Brent Atkinson:
SIT Stuff
Instant Recess
  • Complaints go to no-body,
  • hopefully everyone had done one by now, do your part,
  • For the first two weeks:  Mon-Thur--Core takes care of it...deal with it on your teams and schedule what works best for you
  • Fridays--Encore you on Friday--pick odd or even classes...
  • Do this for awhile, and see how it goes...if you have a better idea discuss with your SIT representative
ALC
  • Teachers would like to be able to offer suggestions to be able to improve it.
  • So far, everyone involved has found it smoother than expected.
  • If you have ideas for how to improve, Brent would be more than happy to take those suggestions and he will forward it to them.
  • Must be positive ideas.  It is here to stay.
  • Any issues you are having to help improve our school, please share with your representative.
  • OUR MVP FOR FEBRUARY is Sabrina Barfield.  This patriot committed the entire month of February to provide speakers on the morning announcement for Black History Month
  • Incidentally, The Thought of the day, come see Eric if you have any...

Stephen Kottenbrock:
  • Tornado drill went very smoothly...
  • Did it at 9:30, helped make more room..especially in the 7th grade halls downstairs
  • One thing...normally they have a "watch" first (to be cautious/on the look out)  Then a WARNING--where you assume the position
  • 3rd quarter lock down drill also went well
  • 4th quarter another lock down drill will be coming
  • First aid kits, "fashion pink bags", one in the main office--first office behind Jennifer's desk on a shelf--AED will also be there
  • another first aid kit will be in the Cabinet and will be in the GYM
  • another in the Annex--book room

Discuss Discipline
  • Want to compare data for 1st and second quarters
  • One option is the 22nd, another is the 24th, next Thursday--normally reserved for grades...
  • (but two hour delay schedule on the 22nd)
  • Could we do it the first week back, grade level the first Thursday we get back...that is the consensus

Wilson-Moore:
  • We are up, up, up for discipline in the 3rd quarter!!
  • Seeing repeat offenders...
  • Some of the things that are up (tardies) will be helped by being visible in the hallways--help, urge students to get where they need to be.
On discipline form:  don't check "contacted parent", if it was a long time ago--causing big problems.

Patriots Pals
  • will meet on the 22nd of March.  Mentors will check on the progress of men tees,  some cash incentives, learning for life meeting, they will refocus on their goals,  hands on for mentors with men tees,  send a sub if you can't be there.  Will try for judge Beatty on the next meeting.
, would like visitors or give him a call.  In his absence, we do not have a sub, three full-time folks.  Try to have kids pick up stuff on a regular basis.
Custodians:
  • Zeek is doing better

Kathy Macdonald
  • Thanks to teams who have referred kids to SAT--referrals have closed at this point, students scheduled now until mid-April.
  • Next Wednesday--issue applications for National Junior Honors Society--mostly 7th graders,  applications due back on the 5th of April, some will be asked to do teacher recommendations
Candi Fernandez:
  • EOQ next week,  Tuesday and Wednesday on a two hour delay,  as much like the real  EOG as possible,  all mods right, proctors in place and test admins, etc.  try to start as close to 7:35
    • Tuesday:  1,3,5 encore classes...
    • Wednesday:  2,4,6 encores classes
    • using many encore classrooms,  many teams have extend two groups, extended time.  Some encore teachers will be admin for test, probably just extended time, separate groups
  • EC teachers to see Candi after meeting
  • EOQ grammar testing--most LA giving this week or next
  • Math Teachers will get booklets on Thursday downstairs in the lab during Plato training
  • If not sure where a student tests ask EC resource teacher or Candi

Brad:

  • Mark your calendar for April 26 for pictures--Pre order only
  • Will get information on the weekly message
  • it is a money maker for the school
  • similar format as the fall, but only sending kids with prepaid packets

Study Skills:
  • Before end of April, we need us to decide what Study skills should look like...Couple of ways we could do it (not talking about EC study skills)
  • Could do by TEAMS, instruction could be specialized, you know the kids,  but problem some teams might have more kids than other teams.
  • At grade levels and PLC,  hash it out, and make a decision,  what would be more fair?  He doesn't care how we do it, but figure out what works best.  Need a common idea.
  • Another thought...Kirby said take dead time around lunch and teach reading before and after lunch.  Read something out load...LA teacher could take the low kids...
  • Brad said it is not going to be a homework time...thoughts:  LA/SS handling the reading, Math/Science handling the math

Teacher Workdays:
  • Make up snow days caused teacher workdays to be changed:
  • March 28th is RC
  • March 29th RSV (vote for school training)
  • March 30th: RS
  • not supposed to let people have RC days off.  If it's an emergency, then that is one thing...But, try to make other arrangements.
  • If you want to take other two days you can take  AL days,  see Brad about those...
  • If you work both of optional workdays,  then your last day is June 16th
  • If you worked one, then last day is June 17th

Good Of the Order
  • Comp days for over-night trips?  Brad will check out...
  • An updated calendar is under quick links of school district webpage...
  • Eric--thoughts of the day volunteers?
  • Magnet Board?
