- Lynn Palm--Was nominated by fellow teachers since she goes above and beyond whenever an EC teachers needs help!
- Evan Lowrance:
- Was first chair on all state Band for the Bassoon, will participate in all-state Honor's band on May 1st in GSO
- Ms Hamby/Blevins: TJMS Yearbook received recognition in a nationwide competition--with Balfour Yearbook publications-- honorable mentioned, and only 5% of schools nationwide receive this award.
- Conger Davis--Ms. Hartle won $1000.00 savings bond--attending Elk's Lodge--"Proud to be an American contest reception"
- Ebert-- story hatchery writing contest:

- 13 Year old Category:
- 2nd Place Michael Hubbad
- Henneh Khan's short story will be published in the Winston-Salem Monthly Magazine.
- Public Service Announcements from encore are awesome--Riddle/Barfield did a great job along with Eric Schoulda
- SIT voted to have instant recess at the start of the day--some kinks, same ones all the time?, talking to Eric...maybe a Theme each Day .
- will run on channel 13 from now on...
- We are one meeting away from turning over to a new set of SIT reps
- Let people know if you are interested...
- SIT is a great place to have your voice heard.
- Talk at grade level or encore meeting if you are interested
- This month's MVP: We will have a meeting next Monday, if you know someone who has gone the extra mile...Remember MVP is not just for teachers, classified personnel are also eligible.
- Safety/Lock down: what if a child "falls out"/needs help attention in an emergency?
- They have added an addendum/protocol to the emergency action plan in the event of an emergency like this.
- Also, trying to develop a plan for an unruly child during an emergency.
- All outside access doors need to be closed...all outside access doors...
- Chick-Fil-A Spirit night will be May 19th, and should be many opportunities for folks to participate
- Not just for African American students anymore
- This is an important program to Dr.Martin
- Asking every person on the middle school level to contribute something/anything
- Dr. Montague-Davis will be coordinating this effort for the district
- Wilson Moore is a recipient of this fund, so it is near and dear to her heart/ it changed her life.
- Ms. Cummings and Wilson-Moore are organizing, and you will receive a contribution form in your box by Wednesday 4/13
- Patriots Pals is this Thursday--look for the announcement for a location, if you are a sponsor--please try and attend with your men tee

Candi Fernandez
- EOQ booklets due to her by Friday, Remove the front cover.
- Please call first or come by at the end of the day, Candi will be out of her office doing Extend 2 testing this week
- 22 students--8 different testing sessions
- 6th grade math, 7th reading, 8th science

- Extend 1 testing begins April 26th--about five students (Ms.Scott)
- EOG gateways are eliminated (Be aware for parent questions--Here is a guide to FAQ about the EOG requirement)
- no longer used for promotion
- We will retest (red zone/green zone)
- Can NOT retake EOG to improve grade if they get a three or a four
- EOG will represent 25% of their final grade
- At Thursday's grade level has a conversion of the scale score (linked here) to a numeric grade
- Percentile is not the grade, just a rank
- Will work similar to how Algebra EOC tests worked in the past.
- lowest F is a 60
- will get a copy of scale conversion at grade level meetings
- absent students--will get a lowest of the grades--a 60

Brad: Transfer intention: need to be filled out by Friday...
Teacher Allotment Meeting is next Friday the 22nd--first allotment meeting with Montague-Davis

He is not hiding anything...Steve Blair gave Brad his first numbers as of today and will soon start scheduling, but not made one decision about placements yet. There will have to be adjustments. If Brad has to move someone will first have a conversation. He is pretty sure everyone who wants to be back can come back...
Extra curricular activity sponsors for next year?: A questionnaire asking about your strengths will be sent--may get called into action.
Magazine sales are way down...drastically...
- Westmoreland is working with new sales guy--looking at alternatives...They will be giving out prizes in next couple of weeks
OCR:
Investigation not of our school...but the process of looking at the number of African American males disproportionately suspended.
List of those chooses was random and sent my central office.They did end up wanting to talk to kids, which was a change from before
They were allowed to interview in a group setting...student council
Thanks to Leigh Walters and Daniel Bryant who helped compile the data for Brad at grade levels
Brad welcomes any discussion that will give insight to this disproportionate suspension rate.
